Very intriguing piece. You took a really common horror art trope (skulls) and made it into something really unexpected. The way the skull splits at the top leaves the viewer with questions. For me, I like it and can't really explain why. It just works. And is the hole in the top supposed to be kind of a keyhole? More questions.
The smoke really adds to it, too. Ideas like these are what the horror genre needs.
This is an extremely visually appealing and interesting piece, I think the limited color palette works well, and the socket-less eyes add a certain level of interest, it makes you wonder. I'd love to know a little bit about the concept for this
Thank you very much! I am glad you like the socket-less eyes, I was not sure if it would come across that well to the viewer.
Well, there is not that much to it, I wanted to draw something with a skull, but since I didn't want a normal skull, that was in the back of my mind when I started sketching away, I decided to make the head longer, to step away from the regular skull base, the cracks came in to make it look older, like it has been around for a long time. The incense sticks....I always wanted to draw those....so yeah, that is basically it
I think being creative and trying to do something different from the "same-old, same-old" worked very well for this peice. and sometimes we dont have to have deeper meanings to just make badass art awesome job!
Ah, Yoco! Your drawings are still so impressive! I particularly like this one (don't really know why but... ) Well anyway, amazing job, as always, and that was a good idea to use tons of grey, instead of colors!
